Why is God so Important in Your Marriage?

Why is God so Important in Your Marriage?

Some may have questioned this. I personally haven't because I have always been a follower of Jesus Christ. My husband is a God fearing man, and for that I am so blessed. Having someone who has the same spiritual beliefs as you is the key to putting God first in your marriage. I once heard that having three strings that are braided together is not easily broken. The three strings representing - God, husband and wife (Genesis 2:24). However, having just two.. they can easily untwist, unravel and fall apart. Personally, that example explains what I think it would be like having a marriage that didn't include God. In order to include God in your marriage, you must first know him. He knows you, because he created you (Jeremiah 1:5). He's waiting for you to seek him even if it's through worship, prayer or scripture. Know our God, and just how truly amazing he is.

When we include God into our daily lives, homes and into our marriage.. we soon learn how much Christ loves us and how we should love others. He is faithful, understanding and he sees us through our hardships. No matter our struggles, God is always with us (Jeremiah 23:23-24). He is always there mending our path, even if we do not see his works right away (Proverbs 3:5-6).

When we know God, we also know how we should treat our loved ones and most importantly our spouse. As a husband and wife we want to honor God by treating our spouse with unconditional love and the utmost respect. God wants us to love others as he loved us (John 13:34). Think about it like this.. God placed that person in your life for a reason. He has a greater plan for you, and they may be apart of it. Be grateful for God's doings, and treat them Christlike.

We know him in our hearts, and we mimic him through our actions. My marriage isn't perfect. It takes work and commitment. Why isn't my marriage perfect? It's because both my husband and I aren't perfect people. We struggle, we fall, we pray and we rise - together. However, God IS perfect - we need to imitate him, seeking to be just like him (Ephesians 5)

Bless your relationship from the start. Invite God into your marriage and reap the benefits. He will bless your marriage if you seek him. Will there be hard times? Absolutely. Learn to praise God in the good and bad times (Psalm 34:1). He is for us, not against us (Jeremiah 29:11). One of my favorite sayings is, "Let Go and Let God". If you do this, you will see that you and your spouse will get through your struggles. Pray together, and let God work his miracles. After all we do call him a Miracle worker (Luke 1:37).

Including God into your marriage is so important. It's actually like.. having an extra suit of armor. Nothing can destroy you. Love hard, and pray harder. When you find your future someone, love them with all of your heart and never let them go. Make God your number one priority and everything else will fall into place.

God Bless,
